UKRAINE
As a church, we have been actively involved in Ukraine since the year 2000, building strong connections with families, charities and the communities they serve. This includes drug rehabilitation centres, housing and support for the elderly, and work with widows and orphans, and we want to support these projects in any way we can.
Since 2017, we have visited yearly to help with summer camps for young people directly affected by the ongoing conflict in the Eastern regions of Ukraine. 2022 has seen the war escalate and we stand with them in solidarity and pray for courage, comfort and hope for a better future.
Our pre-established bonds with Ukraine have provided numerous ways for us to reach out practically, including collecting and distributing aid, and providing support for displaced Ukrainians. We want the church building to continue to be used as a hub for Ukrainians and their host families to socialise, access English lessons, get help with paperwork and arrange any additional support that may be needed.
If you'd like to find out how you can get involved or show support to families arriving into the area from Ukraine, then come along to the Garstang Ukraine Support (GUS) group run by members of the local community or contact us.
