Andrew's journey

Hi, I’m Andrew Tissingh, people refer to me as Tiss. I am married to Ellie and have two boys, Micah and Aaron.

I was born in Holland to a Dutch mother and Kiwi father, who, by the time I was 1, had been called to serve as missionaries in North Africa. I grew up as a missionary kid in southern Spain and North Africa. I lived in community, was part of mission trips across the Sahara region, and was privileged to see God at work all through my childhood. At 16, I knew I wanted to be in full time ministry.

While attending a youth festival in Holland, I recognised that although I knew God, I hadn’t taken hold of the fact that He wanted a relationship with me. From then on, my life changed. Having struggled with loneliness, I had a real sense that God was walking with me. As He began to heal some of my brokenness, I found myself reaching out to others to help them on their journey of healing. That has led me to work with many different organisations and train in different areas of ministry.

We have been settled in Garstang since 2011. I currently am a CMC (training route to ordination with the UK Free Methodists), and I have been on the pastoral team at GFM since October 2017. I have various areas of responsibility within the church, including youth and families, but ultimately my heart is for all people to be living in freedom. Ellie and I have a real passion to walk alongside people through the ups and downs, support and nurture them as they grow and value them for who they are. We love to see people develop their giftings and be used by God.
